Part of our Sustainable Tourism series of excursions in Playa del Carmen, this eco tour will take you to the far reaches of the Yucatan, where flamingos outnumber people: the Rio Lagartos Flamingo Preserve. Here you'll become one with the natural environment. Swim in natural pink salt baths, enjoy a home cooked meal by a local Mayan fisherman in his home, visit the amazing Ek Balam Mayan Ruins site, and also embrace the local Mayan village of Hunuku, where you will see how the local Mayans live today. |

Approximate Itinerary:
8:30 AM - After hotel pickup, we depart for Rio Lagartos
10:00 AM - Pit stop in the Mayan village of Valladolid for restrooms and browsing the local artesian handicrafts.
11:00 AM - Arrive Rio Lagartos, begin boat tour through the Mangrove-lined Waterways, watching for birds and other wildlife.
1:00 PM - Delicious Home-cooked meal at local fisherman's hut.
2:15 PM - Depart for Ek Balam
3:00 PM - Arrive Ek Balam, Tour the Ruins
4:00 PM - Depart Ek Balam
4:15 PM - Arrive at Hunuku Mayan Village.
5:10 PM - Depart for the Riviera Maya
6:30 PM - Drop-off at your hotel.
Cruise Passengers: This tour is not compatible with most cruise ship schedules.

Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM
Duration: 11.5 hours approximately.
Departure: Complimentary Pickup from your Playa del Carmen hotel.
