Chichen Itza Tours - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far is Chichen Itza from the Riviera Maya?
A:  Chichen Itza is about 2.5 hours from Tulum and Playa del Carmen and about 3 hours from Cancun.  For this reason, you'll need to plan to visit on a day when you have plenty of time.

Q: Is the Light & Sound Tour only on Wednesdays?
A:
Public light & sound tours only run on Wednesdays, but the light show happens every night.  You can see it on a different night with a Private Tour.

Q: Is my hotel in the Riviera Maya?
A:
If you are staying anywhere along the coastline between Cancun and Tulum, you are in the Riviera Maya.  This includes Puerto Morelos, Playa Paraiso, Playa Secreto, Punta Bete, Akumal, Puerto Aventuras, and Tulum.  We've separated out a separate Playa del Carmen section just for folks staying in that town.

Q: What is the difference between a Private Tour and a Public Tour?
A:
Private tours have a private driver that takes you (and only you) directly to Chichen Itza.  They're totally customizable, and you can set the start time and the itinerary. As you're renting the whole vehicle and a private chauffeur for the day, it can be expensive for only 1 or 2 people, but a great bargain if you have a larger group.  Public tours you will share a vehicle with other people, and your vehicle will make stops at other people's hotels to pick them up and drop off.
