Cozumel Fishing - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the Boat I Want Available?
We don't reserve specific boats due to the need for flexibility based on group sizes, availability, water and weather conditions, maintenance schedules, etc.  However, you can request a boat when you make your reservation and if everything works out, we'll try to get you on that boat.  Otherwise, you'll still be on an excellent vessel.

Q: What fish are in season?
Check out our Fishing Calendar to see what you're likely to catch.

Q: Where do the Charters depart from?
Charters depart from Marina Caleta and Marina Puerto Abrigo in Cozumel. Detailed directions will be provided with your confirmation.  We also offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off at all hotel piers for your convenience.

Q: How much travel time is there to the fishing grounds?
Travel time in Cozumel is minimal.  It is an island, so the fishing grounds are all around it!  That's one of the many great things about fishing in Cozumel.

Q: Can I keep my fish?
Billfish are catch and release unless you want to mount them. Eating fish can be filleted and packed in ice for you to cook up that evening.  It is not a good idea to try to bring your raw fish home with you to the States. You will have a lot of trouble in Customs.

Q: Can I reserve when I get to Cozumel?
This is not a good idea.  Most boats sell out several days in advance, and you will likely not get the boat you want.  We highly recommend reserving as far as possible in advance to ensure you get your boat.

Q: What will the weather be like?
Check out our Cancun Weather page to see what the weather is likely to be like when you're visiting.

Q: I'm on a cruise ship - what if my ship doesn't port? Am I out of luck?
We offer a no-port no-pay policy on all our Cozumel fishing and private snorkeling trips. If your ship doesn't port or is too late to make your charter, we'll refund your money 100%.  There is no risk to book with us.

Q: Can I go snorkeling as well as fishing?
Yes, with our deep sea fishing charters you can snorkel as well if you like.  We'll even provide all the equipment.  Just let us know when you're reserving.

Tips: Make sure to bring plenty of biodegradable sunscreen, a hat, and a camera.  Also make sure to take a seasickness prevention (we recommend Bonine) an hour before going out - it's better safe than sorry!
