Q: What is the water temperature?
A: April through November expect low 80s. From December through March,
expect high 70s - comfortable all year round. The water temperature
never varies more than a few degrees throughout the year, usually between
78 and 82 degrees. You will never need more than a 3mm wetsuit to dive in
Cancun, no matter what time of year.
Q: What type of visibility can I expect?
A: The best visibility is in the crystal-clear water of the Cenotes.
You can see almost forever - over 250 feet. Second best is Cozumel
where visibility ranges from a "mere" 100 feet in the winter to over 200
feet (wow) from April through September. In Cancun, you can expect
around 40 feet between September through April, and about 80 feet May to
August.
Q: Can I dive from shore in Cancun?
A: There are very few places in Cancun to dive from shore, since it
is a sandbar. No substantial reefs can be reached from shore.
