ECO-TOURS
AND NATURAL ADVENTURES IN PLAYA
Far from the tourist hordes, massive resorts, and
Mayan ruins, there is another side to the Riviera Maya - beautiful
areas where flamingos outnumber people, and the major form of
transportation is by boat. Here, you'll get a taste of Playa
del Carmen as it once was, before the first hotel was built, and
where the Mayas still live much as they have for centuries.
These ecotours are far off the beaten track.

Sian Kaan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a huge
expanse of natural wetland, and the largest nature reserve in
Mexico. We offer two great tours from Playa del Carmen that
will take you there. See hundreds of species of endemic
birds and other wildlife, as you take a boat ride through the
mangroves. Snorkel on untouched coral reefs, and spot for
dolphins and manatees.
Rio Lagartos is a flamingo sanctuary located on
the North slope of the Yucatan peninsula, known for it's beauty,
it's tranquility, and it's natural pink salt baths where Mayans have
been performing cleansing rituals for millenia.
Punta Laguna is a monkey preserve for local
howler monkeys and spider monkeys. You can see these cute
critters in their natural environment, plus climb the ruins at Coba.
Isla Contoy is a desert island, a bird sanctuary
second only to Sian Kaan in the amount of endemic species in the
Riviera Maya. Great snorkeling, a real Robinson Crusoe
experience.
Each of these eco tours features great
birdwatching and birding, with hundreds of species to watch.
Get off the beaten track and see the "real Yucatan" this vacation!
