Deep in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico resides the most famous of all the ancient Mayan cities - Chichen Itza. After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the ruins on your own or to take great pictures of buildings such as the Kukulcan Pyramid, the Great Ball Game, and the Observatory. To cool off after a great cultural exploration, we will take you to a refreshing Cenote for a swim! Cenotes are natural sinkholes resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes fresh water underneath. These natural formations were considered a portal to the underworld and were also the only source of water in the Maya world. A great Cultural experience awaits for you! On our way back, there will be brief stop at the colonial town of Valladolid Mexico to take pictures and learn about this beautiful, historical city founded in 1543. |
